On Earth Day, Inchcape reaffirms its global commitment to decarbonisation and the transition towards more sustainable mobility, driving initiatives in Latin America and the Caribbean that promote greater energy efficiency in its operations and growth in its portfolio of new energy vehicles (NEVs).
With the global goal of reducing its emissions by 46% by 2030, the British company is making progress in reducing its Scope 1 and 2 emissions through efficiency initiatives, electrification, and the use of renewable energy in the region.
At the same time, the company has strengthened its leadership in sustainable mobility, achieving a regional market share of nearly 17% in the NEV segment. This performance is reflected in significant milestones such as a 44% share in the NEV segment in Chile, over 70% of the hybrid market in Bolivia, and a share exceeding 25% in Peru, demonstrating its ability to develop and scale the new energy market in the region, consolidating Inchcape as a key player in the transformation of the automotive sector in Latin America.
“At Inchcape, we have defined clear and measurable global commitments in terms of sustainability. Energy efficiency not only allows us to reduce our environmental footprint but also strengthens our operational performance and accelerates the transition towards increasingly sustainable mobility in the markets where we operate,” says Ximena Rodríguez, Sustainability Manager for Inchcape Americas.
Chile represents a concrete example of this strategy. Currently, six branches have operational solar panels, generating clean energy for their operations. By 2026, three new sites will be added, enabling an estimated additional generation of 2,800 MWh per year, equivalent to the annual electricity consumption of more than 1,400 households. This is complemented by the implementation of control and submetering systems for over 70% of the company’s national electricity consumption, as well as ISO 50.001 certification at the Quilicura Headquarters and the Lo Boza Distribution Centre, supporting continuous improvement in energy management.
In Peru, the company has deployed a comprehensive strategy that combines the installation of solar panels at seven sites —with three more in the process of implementation—, the incorporation of intelligent energy management systems (BMS) to optimise air conditioning and lighting, and submetering and energy audit programmes at its main operational centres. These initiatives are complemented by actions such as “Green Fridays,” which promote the responsible use of energy in offices and operations.
Meanwhile, in Bolivia, Inchcape has advanced in modernising its infrastructure by replacing air conditioning equipment using R22 refrigerants with more efficient and environmentally friendly systems, implementing remote metering to monitor energy consumption in real time, and progressively replacing traditional lighting with LED technology. These measures are aligned with the internal Sustainable Route programme, which fosters an organisational culture focused on efficiency and responsible resource consumption.
On Earth Day, Inchcape reaffirms its commitment to continue integrating efficiency, innovation, and sustainable mobility into a single regional strategy, delivering sustainable value and actively contributing to cleaner and more responsible development for the communities where it operates: for today, for tomorrow, and for the better.
