Inchcape Uruguay empowers women through mechanical training

Training

Inchcape Uruguay, in collaboration with Casa de la Mujer and the National Institute of Employment and Professional Training (INEFOP), is driving a significant advancement in training women in basic mechanics. This effort is part of a broader strategy to promote gender equality and expand employment opportunities in the automotive sector.

The initial engagement between Inchcape and Casa de la Mujer took place in December last year, including a visit by 25 students to our facilities, which demonstrated the potential of the partnership. Together, we have developed a renewed version of the programme that will commence at the end of 2024. This new format will train 20 women in the fundamental principles of mechanics and related areas, combining theoretical knowledge with practical experience in our workshops. Additionally, the training will include the development of essential soft skills for professional success.

The partnership with Casa de la Mujer, a civil society organisation that has been advocating for women's rights since 1987, and the funding from INEFOP are fundamental pillars of this initiative. The collaboration will enable participants not only to acquire technical skills but also to integrate into the labour market. Women who successfully complete the programme will be given priority for future vacancies at Inchcape, underscoring our commitment to creating employment opportunities.

Through this partnership, Inchcape reaffirms its role in fostering a more inclusive and equitable environment in the automotive sector, empowering women and promoting their economic independence.
