Inchcape Chile has agreed to sell its retail and wholesale alternative parts business in Chile to Grupo Jedimar. This business includes Autoplanet, Agroplanet, and the Aftermarket wholesale division, as well as its own brands such as Lubritek, DGP, and Motorlife, among others.
As the world's leading independent automotive distributor, Inchcape has a robust growth strategy in Latin America. In Chile, it imports and markets 24 automotive brands, offering a product portfolio that ranges from entry-level to premium vehicles, and also operates in the machinery and commercial vehicle market. To ensure sustainability, its plan focuses on businesses defined as strategic: the distribution and sale of new and used vehicles (passenger, commercial, and machinery), as well as lifecycle services (financing, insurance sales, technical assistance, and original spare parts).
The alternative parts business offers greater value to an organisation like Grupo Jedimar, which considers it a strategic and high-potential business. The conglomerate has characteristics and advantages that position it better to deliver value to its colleagues, suppliers, and customers.
Grupo Jedimar is a Chilean-owned business conglomerate led by the Diez family, with over 75 years of history. Its portfolio includes well-known brands related to mobility and transport, such as TurBus and Starken, as well as Caren, a leading company in the spare parts, tyres, lubricants, batteries, and accessories segment, focusing on heavy fleets, with a network of 22 branches nationwide.
“We consider this sale a success for all parties involved and a further step in consolidating our leadership position in automotive distribution and services in Chile and the region. We will remain in the spare parts business, but with a focus on original parts for the brands we represent in Chile, ensuring we offer our customers the best service throughout the lifecycle of their vehicles,” commented Cristian Sierra, Managing Director of Inchcape Chile.
