Inchcape remains at the forefront of mobility transformation in Latin America, not only by promoting electromobility but also through a robust focus on the safety of its colleagues and communities. By the end of 2023, the company launched an intensive training programme for the safe management of electric vehicles (EVs), training over 4,500 people across the region.
This programme, which includes an investment of more than 1 million dollars in EV safety infrastructure during the second quarter alone, has delivered over 10,000 hours of specialised training. Participants include colleagues, local firefighters, contractors, and emergency authorities in countries such as Chile, Barbados, Colombia, and Peru. In Barbados, in addition to firefighters, the national police, the local emergency system, and the Road Rescue Service were trained, ensuring an effective response to any EV-related incidents.
The training programme comprises five key processes: OEM-certified technical safety certification, internal EV safety procedures, safety talks on risks and responsibilities, HSE (Health, Safety, and Environment) training, and awareness videos on safe interaction with these vehicles.
Additionally, this year we will launch the EV Safety Management & Skill Training, global development and prevention programmes that will be externally certified and deployed across operations worldwide.
This ambitious safety project not only strengthens the protection of Inchcape's workforce but also reinforces its commitment to communities, creating a safer and more sustainable environment for everyone.
