Low-emission vehicle sales double in Chile, consolidating Inchcape's leadership in electrification

  • With a 125.9% increase in cumulative sales of electrified vehicles, the Chilean market accelerates its transition towards cleaner mobility.
  • Inchcape and its brands such as BMW, DFSK, GWM, Land Rover, Mazda, MINI, Porsche, Renault, Suzuki, and Volvo stand out in rankings for volume, growth, and innovation.

The new energy vehicle segment in Chile continues its strong expansion. According to the latest Zero and Low Emission Vehicle Report published by the National Automotive Association of Chile (ANAC), the market recorded 8,969 electrified units sold between January and April, representing a year-on-year increase of 125.9% and achieving a 9.5% share of total light and medium vehicle sales.

Inchcape, with a broad portfolio that includes brands such as BMW, DFSK, GWM, Land Rover, Mazda, MINI, Porsche, Renault, Suzuki, and Volvo, positions itself as a key player in this transformation. In the first four months of the year alone, the group's brands rank among the most active across all technologies: mild hybrids, conventional hybrids, plug-in hybrids, and fully electric vehicles.

To date, the best-selling fully electric model in the country is the Volvo EX30, with 192 units sold so far this year. Similarly, the best-selling plug-in hybrid model is also from Volvo, the XC60. This reflects the brand's commitment to electrifying its entire product range, offering excellent performance levels and a variety of options.

With 2,607 units sold, Suzuki leads the mild hybrid vehicle (MHEV) segment, achieving a 38.9% share of non-plug-in electrified vehicles. Models such as the Fronx, Swift, and Grand Vitara top the cumulative ranking as of April.

In the plug-in hybrid (PHEV) segment, DFSK ranks in the top 6 with 70 cumulative units and a 3.4% share, driven by its DFSK 600 model. Renault, meanwhile, is one of the leaders in fully electric vehicles with 118 units of the Kwid E-Tech model, making it the fourth best-selling electric vehicle in the country.

In the plug-in vehicle segment, BMW and MINI have combined sales of over 70 units so far this year. Porsche, with 28 units, also maintains a strong presence in this category. Mazda, with its CX-60 plug-in hybrid model, consolidates itself as one of the most innovative options in the market.

“These results reflect a clear and consistent strategy. At Inchcape, we drive a real energy transition, focusing on offering a broad, accessible, and technologically advanced range. Our customers today choose electrification not only for efficiency but for a more sustainable and superior driving experience,” said José Miguel Silva, Director of New Energies at Inchcape Americas.

GWM, a brand also represented by Inchcape, ranks in the top 15 with 43 electric units sold in the first quarter, complementing its range of hybrid models such as the Haval H6, H7, and Jolion HEV.

The growth in sales is accompanied by a sustained increase in charging infrastructure. According to data from the Superintendency of Electricity and Fuels (SEC), 611 new chargers were installed in 2025, a 49% increase compared to the same period in 2024, highlighting progress in private infrastructure (+112%) and public infrastructure (+71%).
