We launch new brands from Changan Group in Chile: AVATR, Deepal, and Nevo

  • The manufacturer presented its most radical strategy in recent years for Chile and officially unveiled its new brands AVATR, Deepal, and Nevo.

With the aim of ushering in a new era in the national industry, the Chinese manufacturer presented its new strategy for Chile, under which its entire product offering will be consolidated under the umbrella of the parent brand Changan Group. This will encompass the Changan brand as well as those to be incorporated in the near future: AVATR, Deepal, and Nevo, the latter being integrated into Changan's portfolio.

Under the concept of “Visionaries of a New Era,” Changan Group—distributed by Inchcape in Chile, a leading automotive company in the region present in 14 Latin American countries—aims to go further and lead the transition to electromobility by offering more sustainable, intelligent, safe, and connected vehicles.

To achieve this, it will launch a broad and diverse portfolio of new energy products and technologies this year and in the coming years, aiming to become a benchmark in the low and zero-emission segment. All models will be marketed at DercoCenter branches.

With over 40 years of global experience, Changan Group is one of the leading Chinese automotive groups, with more than 26 million units sold worldwide.

New brands

To consolidate and strengthen its position in Chile, Changan Group will launch the brands AVATR, Deepal, and the Nevo product portfolio this year.

The first focuses on high-end electric vehicles and is characterized by being at the forefront of technological development, design, and performance. AVATR was born in 2018 from a joint venture between Changan, Huawei, and CATL, which is currently the world's largest manufacturer of car batteries.

Meanwhile, Deepal is one of the pioneering automobile brands in the new energy vehicle (NEV) sector in China and the first NEV from Changan Group. Founded in 2022, its focus is on developing cutting-edge solutions that enhance mobility, merging advanced technology and human-centered design to foster a symbiotic relationship between people and vehicles.

Finally, Nevo—which will be integrated into Changan's portfolio in Chile—is oriented towards people, innovation, openness, and inclusion. It is characterized by offering well-equipped, intelligent, and efficient vehicles, providing a renewed approach to mobility solutions.

2025 Innovations

As part of this strategy, Changan Group has prepared a series of launches for 2025, including AVATR 11; Deepal S07 and S05; and Changan Hunter REEV, CS55 Plus IDD, Eado Plus IDD, and Lumin. With these, it aims to become a benchmark in the low and zero-emission segment and consolidate its position within the Top 10 sales rankings in Chile.

“We are extremely proud to present our new brand strategy and to preview the upcoming innovations arriving in the country this year, which we believe will be very well received by the Chilean public. They incorporate cutting-edge designs, state-of-the-art technology, and offer a superior driving experience, in addition to the already characteristic reliability and safety of Changan products,” said Rodrigo Palma, Changan Group Inchcape America Manager.

Among the innovative technologies that Changan Group will introduce this year is the so-called REEV (range-extended electric vehicle), which, thanks to the incorporation of a combustion engine in an electric vehicle used solely to charge the battery, offers a range of up to 1,200 kilometers with a 45-liter tank. This allows users to enjoy all the benefits of a 100% electric car, but with the flexibility and range of a combustion vehicle, and at a lower cost for users.

This technology also allows the battery to be charged by connecting to the electrical grid, thus simplifying its use and expanding recharging options.

“The arrival of AVATR, Deepal, and Nevo products not only represents a leap in the electrification of the portfolio in Chile and other markets where we operate but also aligns with advanced technology platforms that address various needs: comfort, connectivity, safety, autonomous driving, and functionality for our customers. At Inchcape, we currently hold 44% of the NEV segment and aim to continue strengthening our market share,” said José Miguel Silva, Regional Director of New Energies at Inchcape Americas.

A global brand

As part of its philosophy of being a global brand, Changan Group has 10 Research & Development centers spread across six countries (Germany, the United States, England, Italy, Japan, and China) and a team of 17,000 people in 30 countries.

It also has 12 manufacturing bases, 22 production plants, and 73 subsidiaries, enabling it to have a presence in 63 countries and 72,000 employees worldwide, while also creating over one million jobs through its production chain.

Changan Group also boasts the Dianjiang Testing Center, the largest and most comprehensive in all of Asia, covering an area of 224 hectares and including 14 tracks and 70 different testing conditions (highways, braking tracks, water tracks, hills, etc.). This allows for 4,500 experiments in 15 different fields to ensure the highest quality in its vehicles.

Thus, every new model from Changan Group is designed for optimal use of 10 years or 260,000 kilometers. This has earned it various recognitions, such as being ranked number one among Chinese brands in J.D. Power China's Initial Quality Study (IQS), leading the satisfaction evaluation among origin brands in the CCA & CAQ in 2021 and 2022, and topping the China Smart Car Index ranking for three consecutive years.

To lead the transition to electromobility, Changan Group has been working intensively on developing three dedicated platforms for electric vehicles (EV): EPA0, EPA1, and CHN, the latter created in collaboration with Huawei and CATL, as well as new energy technologies.

Thanks to this, it already offers self-recharging plug-in hybrid models (PHEV-A) with a range of up to 1,000 kilometers with a 45-liter tank, 100% electric models (EV) with a range of up to 620 kilometers, and range-extended electric vehicles (REEV) with a maximum range of 1,200 kilometers with a 45-liter tank. This positions it as one of the leaders in the segment.
