Over 30 students from Antofagasta, Calama, and Puerto Montt have participated in the technical training programme by Inchcape Chile

  • The initiative, carried out in collaboration with INACAP, aims to promote the development of young talent in the automotive and machinery sectors through internships, practical training, and personalised mentoring at Dercomaq branches.

Aligned with its commitment to fostering more equitable, diverse mobility that meets future challenges, Inchcape Chile has joined the Cauce programme, a technical training initiative developed in partnership with schools in Antofagasta and Puerto Montt. This partnership has now been extended to Calama, benefiting over 30 students trained in this new phase.

The objective of the Cauce programme is to strengthen the education of students enrolled in Technical Professional Secondary Education (EMTP) through an alternating model between technical schools and the company’s operations.

Driven in partnership with INACAP, the initiative seeks to bridge employability gaps in key sectors of the country by connecting young people with practical experience in the machinery and technical services industries.

“This programme represents our vision of responsible business: connecting professional development opportunities with the needs of the region, through early training and sustained collaboration,” says Pablo Klocker, Managing Director Machinery Inchcape Americas.

The initiative began with partnerships in schools in Antofagasta and Puerto Montt, and this year it has been expanded to Calama. The Cauce programme content includes technical talks, training sessions, internships at Dercomaq branches, induction courses, specialisation in automotive mechanics, and even a professional internship to conclude the training cycle.

“Having access to real workspaces allows us to reinforce the skills students need to enter the workforce with more tools and confidence, especially in sectors different from those that naturally generate greater interest in these areas, such as aquaculture and mining. Additionally, we want to demonstrate that growing in the automotive sector is an attractive and distinct alternative, as well as a space where women can develop professionally, promoting the strengthening of female participation in the industry,” highlights Klocker.
