Inchcape drives its expansion in Ecuador and strengthens its global leadership in automotive Distribution
With a presence in more than 40 markets, the company has maintained business relationships with renowned international manufacturers for up to 60 years. According to Mike Bowers, CEO for the Americas, the key to leadership resides in the trust built up over decades.
“Our partners need a Distributor they can trust, and they trust Inchcape because of our strength, experience and talent in all the countries where we operate”, said Mike Bowers, Regional CEO for the Americas, Inchcape.
More than 90% of the team working at the Distributor is local, which strengthens the connection with the real needs of consumers. This structure allows the company to respond quickly and maintain a competitive offering.
Inchcape's growth strategy in Ecuador
Ecuador is the fourth most important territory for the company in the region and an essential part of its Accelerate+ strategy, aimed at growing and optimising its operations. Since 2019, the company has added 10 points of sale, more than 100 employees and a portfolio of five lines with more than 80 models.
Among the brands distributed by the company in Ecuador are Mercedes-Benz, Subaru, Smart and others that strengthen its presence in strategic segments.
“We are always looking for new opportunities because we believe in the Ecuadorian market and its capacity for development.”
A commitment to new energy vehicles
Inchcape leads the new energy vehicle category in the Americas with a 17% market share. In Ecuador, adoption is still in its early stages, a starting point that opens up vast opportunities for the sector. As a result, the company anticipates sustained growth driven by electric models such as Smart and the new offerings from Mercedes-Benz.
According to the ‘Drivers of Change’ study, 63% of Ecuadorians have a positive perception of clean technology vehicles and 27% plan to purchase one in the short term.
Vision for sustainable development in the Americas
The Accelerate+ strategy also promotes efficiency, sustainability and talent development. Bowers emphasises that environmental commitment is an essential part of the plan, which is why the local operation is Carbon Zero certified, in line with the global goal of reducing emissions by 46% by 2030.
“We continue to build an ecosystem that enables the advancement of new energy vehicles”.
His vision for the region is clear: “We are going to double the business in the Americas by 2030, and we want to do so by providing opportunities to our employees, because talent and commitment are key to our growth.”
For Inchcape, Ecuador represents a key platform for advancing in the region. With a focus on sustainable mobility, globally renowned brands and a long-term vision, the company seeks to promote a more competitive, efficient and sustainable mobility ecosystem for the country.
