- The company strengthens its roadmap towards carbon neutrality with the inauguration of new solar panels in Peru, Bolivia, and Panama, adding to its regional clean energy network.
Inchcape Americas, the world's leading independent automotive distributor, takes another step in its sustainability strategy with the inauguration of solar systems in Peru and Panama, now reaching over 1,500 photovoltaic panels installed across the region. This expansion reinforces its commitment to cleaner mobility and carbon-neutral operations.
In Peru, the company inaugurated two photovoltaic systems at its largest sites in Lima, which account for 30% of the country's energy consumption. Both installations feature 88 solar panels of 700W, capable of generating over 80 MWh annually and avoiding the emission of 17 tonnes of CO₂e per year. With this, there are now three Inchcape centres in the country operating with solar energy, contributing approximately 12% of the company's annual emissions reduction target in Peru.
In Bolivia, three Imcruz–Inchcape sites in La Paz and Santa Cruz are already operating with solar energy, with a total of 275 photovoltaic panels distributed across a total area of 650 m². These systems achieve an installed capacity of 146.44 kWp and an annual production of over 220 MWh of renewable energy. The Logistics Centre KM 12 project in Santa Cruz alone, with 224 panels, will reduce 55 tonnes of CO₂e.
In Panama, Inchcape is advancing with its first solar project in the country: the installation of 340 photovoltaic panels at its Tumba Muerto branch, currently in the final connection phase. This system will cover an average of 88% of the site's energy consumption, which accounts for 22% of the total electricity used by the company in the Panamanian market, marking a key milestone in its transition towards more sustainable operations.
“The energy transition requires concrete and measurable actions. The solar projects in Peru and across the region demonstrate that it is possible to combine business growth with environmental responsibility, generating direct benefits for our communities,” highlighted Ximena Rodríguez, Sustainability Manager of Inchcape Americas.
With these projects, Inchcape Americas now has 15 active and developing solar installations in Chile, Costa Rica, Colombia, Ecuador, Panama, and Peru, with a total of 1,553 panels distributed across the region.
Thanks to this clean energy network, the company achieved a 9% reduction in its Scope 1 and 2 emissions during 2024, aligned with its global goal of reducing its carbon footprint by 46% by 2030.
