We highlight our commitment and intention by emphasising sustainability as a fundamental pillar.

On the occasion of World CO2 Emissions Reduction Day, a date aimed at raising awareness of the risks of climate change and promoting environmental policies to minimise the release of these polluting gases, Inchcape advocates for a future where sustainable mobility is not just a vision but an increasingly achievable reality.

According to the UN's 2024 Emissions Gap Report, transport accounts for 15% of global CO2 emissions, of which 13% specifically comes from automobiles. These figures underscore the urgent need to accelerate the transition towards more sustainable transport solutions.

In response to this challenge, Inchcape, the world's leading independent automotive distributor, with a presence in 14 Latin American countries and partnerships with over 40 vehicle and machinery brands, has taken a leading role in the region, driving the transition towards more sustainable and innovative mobility:

  • Chile: Leads with over 25% of the electric vehicle market, with 46% featuring sustainable mobility technology.
  • Bolivia: Commands more than 76% of the hybrid vehicle market.
  • Peru: Holds a 19% share in electric vehicles and 28% in hybrids.
  • Colombia: Has consolidated its position as a key player in sustainable mobility.

Furthermore, according to its latest Sustainability Report, the company achieved significant milestones towards its global objectives, particularly in its mission to reduce carbon emissions.

During 2024, the organisation achieved a 6.6% reduction in Scope 1 and 2 emissions, contributing to its goal of a 46% reduction by 2030 and achieving net zero emissions.

The Communications and Sustainability Director for Inchcape Americas, Laura Viegas, stated that “reducing CO2 emissions is a fundamental focus of the company’s sustainability strategy, where one of our four pillars is ‘Planet’, based on environmental responsibility and the actions we take to promote a more sustainable automotive industry.”

Among the main initiatives, the executive highlighted that “as a company, we are committed to accelerating the transition to sustainable mobility by distributing low-emission vehicles and implementing cleaner technologies in our operational processes. With this, we aim to achieve our objectives, which not only seek to reduce our carbon footprint in the region but also to offer more efficient and accessible transport solutions for our customers, contributing to a more sustainable and responsible future.”
