New MINI Countryman: MINI's SUV takes it to the next level

Countryman

The MINI Countryman unleashes MINI's adventurous curiosity with the versatility of a true SUV. As the largest car MINI has ever produced, it brings a new design, more technology, and greater sustainability.

The new MINI Countryman is an SUV that encapsulates contemporary minimalism. With a robust appearance and sleek lines, this vehicle is designed to take you to the most interesting places with maximum comfort, being a reliable companion with all the boldness of a MINI.

Its natural and robust elegance adapts to both the city and nature, with features such as the front grille, spectacular headlights, and the imposing Powerdome bonnet. New futuristic design lines accompany the brand's new model on its sides and rear, while still retaining details that are synonymous with MINI's tradition.

The interior aesthetic is defined by a minimalist design, excellent finishes, and refined details. Premium-quality materials, many of them recyclable, advanced technology, and ambient lighting combine to create a highly refined driving experience, which can be personalised through eight different driving modes.

The completely revamped cabin has been conceived under the principle of "less is more," with the central focus being the dashboard featuring the impressive circular OLED touch screen. It uses the most advanced OLED technology, measures 240 mm in diameter, and incorporates BMW Group's cutting-edge technology. It functions as an instrument cluster, as well as a centre for assistance and infotainment. Additionally, it is the first round screen in the automotive industry.

Another key aspect of this new model relates to safety, starting with the innovative LED headlights that provide optimal illumination in low-light areas, as well as lateral lighting when cornering. These are complemented by active and passive safety features.

Depending on the version, it may include a front camera, up to six cameras providing a 360° view, and radars that act as object/pedestrian detection elements, offering various driving and parking assistance systems. These include, for example, forward collision warning with autonomous emergency braking, lane change assistant, blind spot monitor, rear cross-traffic alert, automatic parking assistant with autonomous entry and exit in tight spaces (all of the above as standard), as well as adaptive cruise control with Stop & Go, parking assistant plus system, among the most notable features.

A special mention goes to the introduction of MINI's "MINI Connected" system in the New Countryman, which allows access to a range of online services by connecting the vehicle to the digital world, either directly in the car or via the smartphone app (coming soon). This enables remote vehicle functions such as turning on the lights, sounding the horn, remote locking/unlocking, GPS-based vehicle location, programming interior climate control, viewing the 360° camera system (depending on the version), and even accessing services like emergency calls, maintenance scheduling, among others.

Finally, this new model does not compromise on its sporty profile. The new Cooper engines deliver 156 HP with 230Nm of torque, the Cooper S ALL4 offers 204 HP with 300Nm of torque, and the JCW reaches 296 HP with 400Nm of torque. Two electric versions are also available: the E with 204 HP and the SE with 313 HP, the latter featuring All4 with two electric motors, one on each axle.

"The New Countryman is the first model of MINI's new generation, surprising us with advancements in the brand's core and recognised aspects: design, technology, and sustainability. It marks the starting point for a new era for MINI, as it celebrates its 65th anniversary, definitively taking things to the next level," said Sebastián Dañil, Manager of MINI Chile.

The New Countryman will offer four trim and equipment levels in its petrol versions: Essential, Classic, Favoured, and JCW. By mid-year, the electric E and SE versions with Classic and Favoured trims will also be available.
