Inchcape Australasia on R U OK? Day

R U OK? Day is an important event that encourages everyone to have a meaningful conversation with a colleague, friend or loved one and ask are R U OK? At Inchcape, our commitment to supporting the wellbeing of our colleagues is ingrained in our culture, however on this important day we shine an extra spotlight on the importance of mental wellbeing.

Across our sites on R U OK? Day, our staff were gifted yellow bags that were designed to encourage our team members to take a break, share a hot beverage and a snack, and check in with a colleague, friend or loved one to have a meaningful conversation and ask R U OK? We also shared insightful resources from R U OK? to support these conversations, including how to use the four steps of Ask, Listen, Encourage Action and Check In to guide your conversation, how to dig deeper if someone says they’re fine but your gut says they’re not, and useful contacts that can provide support if someone is not ok.

At Inchcape, on R U OK? Day we reminded staff that a conversation can have a big impact and could change a life, so we encouraged our colleagues to start one. We shared the message that you don’t need to be an expert to reach out – just a supportive colleague or friend and a great listener. We can all make a difference in the lives of those who might be struggling by having regular, meaningful conversations about life’s ups and downs.
