- The initiative by Inchcape, launched in Peru in 2023, is now present in seven countries, has impacted 10 schools, and mobilised over 840 volunteers alongside 18 partner organisations.
Every 17 August marks World Pedestrian Day, a date that encourages reflection on the importance of promoting safer mobility and raising awareness about the role each individual plays in road safety.
In this context, Inchcape highlights the growth of I Move Safely Kids, an initiative aimed at introducing road safety education to children, fostering habits and behaviours from an early age that contribute to safer mobility.
The programme was launched in Peru in 2023 and has since expanded its reach to Costa Rica, Colombia, Chile, Bolivia, Barbados, and Ecuador, covering seven countries in the region. Through educational activities conducted in schools, Inchcape volunteers work with communities to provide children with knowledge and tools to navigate safely as pedestrians and road users.
To date, Yo Me Muevo Seguro Kids has impacted 10 schools, partnered with 18 organisations, and mobilised over 840 volunteers, who have helped bring road safety education to new communities and expand the initiative's reach.
The programme's growth reflects a vision of mobility that goes beyond the movement of people. Road safety also requires education, awareness, and collaboration among various stakeholders to create sustainable changes in how communities interact with their surroundings.
Through I Move Safely Kids, Inchcape aims to help children acquire knowledge and habits from a young age that can make a difference in their safety and that of those around them.
Because transforming mobility also means building safer communities and contributing to a better future.
