Duncan Tait's interview with CNN Chile

In interview with CNN Chile, Duncan Tait, Inchcape’s Group Chief Executive, discussed the key challenges and opportunities that are shaping the transition to sustainable mobility in Chile and the Americas region.

The conversation explored key topics such as the evolution of the automotive industry, the progress of sustainable mobility, the growing role of hybrid technology in the mobility transition, and insights from our ‘Drivers of Change’ report, a study on consumer sentiment toward personal mobility and consumer readiness for new energy vehicles (NEVs).

Emphasising the need for a pragmatic, customercentric approach to the mobility transition, Duncan noted that while new technologies are inevitable, progress must reflect the realities of local infrastructure, affordability and consumer behaviour. He underlined the value of a multitechnology pathway including hybrids, plugin hybrids and electric vehicles to support the transition.

Duncan commented: "We do three things in response to what we have heard from our consumers. Firstly, we provide information to our customers, so they understand which technology is best for them. Secondly, we are helping to connect governments, data and consumers to understand how they can influence the transition. And the final thing, which I’m very conscious of here at Inchcape, is that we should reduce our impact on the planet and cut our own CO2 emissions.”

Reaffirming Inchcape’s commitment to Chile, Duncan commented on the importance of this strategic market that is underpinned by strong performance, high levels of customer and employee satisfaction, and a deep understanding of the local market.
