2025 Sustainability Report: progress in a transforming industry

Throughout 2025, the automotive industry continued to transform and we saw more consumers move to lower-emission vehicles with global hybrid sales increasing 28% on 2024 and global New Energy Vehicle (NEV) sales now exceeding 20.7 million units - highlighting the momentum of change.

Our 2025 Sustainability Report highlights the key role we play in navigating this transforming industry and enabling access to mobility by supporting markets and consumers in the transition to NEVs. We recognise that the global transition is not uniform, and Inchcape’s role is to ensure that no market is left behind and that customers can access the benefits of mobility.

We deliver this through our Sustainability Framework which has three clear areas of focus and is outlined in our 2025 Sustainability report:

  • First, by delivering insights to our key stakeholders on the mobility transition across our markets.

  • Second, by enabling new technologies, supporting the rollout of new energy vehicles and charging infrastructure.

  • And third, we manage our impacts and monitor our progress through four pillars - Planet, People, Places and Practices - providing a clear structure for action, governance and accountability, while enabling a responsible and sustainable route to market for our OEM partners.

In 2025, we reduced our Scope 1 and 2 emissions by 43% from our 2019 baseline, marking strong progress against our 2030 targets. Our 2025 report details further progress we made in accelerating the global mobility transition, locally, with key highlights including:

  • Delivering insights: We published the first ‘Drivers of Changereport, featuring consumer insights on evolving mobility trends in 13 markets.

  • Enabling new technologies: 3% of our total vehicles sales in 2025 were purely battery electric vehicles (BEVs) and seven of our ten new contract wins were with OEMs offering BEV-only ranges.

  • Sustainable route to market:

  • Planet: Achieved a 43% reduction in our Scope 1 and 2 emissions against a 2019 baseline, including a 9.9% year-over-year reduction, keeping us on track for our 2030 targets.

  • People: Achieved an 81% colleague engagement rate, up 4% on the prior year.

  • Places: Ten markets delivered road safety programmes, which has doubled since 2023.

  • Practices: AI policy framework rolled out globally ensuring consistent governance and supporting responsible adoption.

Looking ahead, with Sustainability embedded in the execution of Accelerate+ and supported by our people and partnerships, we are well positioned to navigate the transition ahead and continue creating value for our stakeholders.
