Having a positive impact on the communities where we operate is fundamental to our values and the success of our business. We are exploring the role we can and should play in advancing mobility and improving the quality of life in the markets where we are present. These areas include Inclusive Mobility and a focus on mobility solutions for people with disabilities.
In Colombia, we are fulfilling this mission through “Mobilising Hearts” – a project aimed at benefiting Colombians with physical disabilities by providing mobility solutions. This initiative involves repurposing spare parts, previously considered scrap, to create prosthetics for those in need.
We have partnered with the Fundación Fuente de Esperanza (FUNDAFE), a Colombian NGO that uses our spare parts in two ways: either incorporating them directly into the construction of prosthetics or, if they are not suitable for this purpose, selling them to generate crucial funds for the foundation’s ongoing operations.
Our commitment to this programme goes beyond simply donating spare parts. By providing transport services to FUNDAFE, “Mobilising Hearts” has travelled 30,830 km, reaching 37 cities and municipalities across Colombia. These visits are conducted to carry out maintenance checks on the provided prosthetics, helping to ensure their continued functionality.
As a local NGO, FUNDAFE is perfectly positioned to visit smaller towns and deliver prosthetics and solutions to individuals who cannot travel to the capital, Bogotá.
To date, this innovative programme has benefited a total of 57 people, and more than 150 prosthetic maintenance checks have been carried out.
