Inchcape, the world's leading independent automotive distributor, has published its first Sustainability Report, marking a significant milestone in its commitment to sustainable growth. This report highlights the progress made in 2023 and the crucial role of all regions, including the Americas, in the transition to sustainable mobility.
The report details the achievements aligned with the four pillars of its Responsible Business framework: Planet, People, Places, and Practices. In the Americas region, these efforts have had a notable and tangible impact, reflecting our commitment to sustainability and responsibility.
Planet
In 2023, Inchcape achieved a 6.6% reduction in Scope 1 and 2 emissions, a significant contribution towards the global target of a 46% reduction by 2030 and achieving net zero emissions by 2040. Twenty-five carbon reduction projects were implemented, including the installation of solar panels at more than 40 sites, and over 1,200 tonnes of waste were recycled, including tyres, batteries, and oils. These actions underline our commitment to energy efficiency and the circular economy.
People
We have invested significantly in talent development. Globally, more than 800 people enrolled in the Early Careers programme, and over 100 women graduated from the Women into Leadership programme. Additionally, in the region, we initiated a project to replace more than 300 lifts, ensuring they meet HSE standards and consume less electricity.
Places
In Peru, we established a partnership with Juguete Pendiente to visit schools in vulnerable areas, benefiting 250 children. In Chile, we collaborated with the DUOC institute on a dual learning programme that has benefited 70 students, and in Colombia, the Movilizando Corazones programme benefited 58 people through the creation of more than 150 prosthetics made from automotive scrap.
Practices
Our focus on responsible business is reflected in the updated Code of Conduct across 35 markets, ensuring strong governance practices and ethical conduct.
The publication of this report highlights Inchcape's global commitment and the significant contribution of the Americas region towards a more sustainable and responsible future.
