| SUMMARY | 
| The Diesel Mechanic performs diagnoses, repair, and modification work on diesel and gas-powered construction equipment, heavy and light trucks, automobiles, and performs other duties as required.   Work may be completed in the workshop or at the customer’s work site, as required.      | 
| ESSENTIAL DUTIES | 
| Workshop and on-site diagnosis, troubleshooting, and repair of pickup trucks, automobiles, dump trucks, tractors, motor graders, cranes, generators, material lifts, forklifts, and other diesel and gas-powered heavy equipment.Determine the extent of needed repair; inspect used parts to determine the cause of mechanical failure and evaluate whether parts are still useable or need to be replacedOverhaul, repair, and adjust engines, standard and automatic transmissions, air and hydraulic brake systems, clutches, differentials, axles and suspension, ignition and electrical systems, computerized and electronic ignition systems, steering and control systems, and generatorsPerform instrumentation repair; repair and replace tracks on bulldozers; grind, seat, and adjust valves; rebuild hydraulic pumps; Repair electronically controlled devices on power shovels and other heavy equipment; Adjust and repair grader blades and loader bucket assemblies;Use a wide variety of test equipment and shop tools; Overhaul exhaust systems; Make emergency repairs in the fieldPerform routine maintenance and servicing of equipment and trucks; change and repair tiresComplete work-orders and timecards dailyComplete jobs in accordance with the quoted labor hourMaintain workshop in a clean, organized, and safe mannerProperly maintain company tool inventoryProvide excellent customer service to clients

| QUALIFICATIONS | 
| Any combination of training and experience that would provide the required knowledge and abilities is qualifying, unless otherwise specified.  Typical ways to obtain these knowledge and abilities include the following: EducationTechnical or trade school certification in mechanical services or related instruction
ExperienceOne to two years’ experience in the maintenance and servicing of automotive, road construction, or other heavy equipment, including some engine repair work or formal training in engine repair
LicensurePossession of a valid driver’s licenseAbility to obtain DBIDS/Rapid Gate base access
Tools of the TradeIncumbents must provide the basic required tools upon employment and any additional required tools within twelve months of employment.  The Company will provide basic heavy equipment workshop tools as deemed necessary by management
