Creating a stronger Finance team

Since the start of 2020, we have been implementing a global Finance transformation programme.

Designed to help make the Finance function stronger, the programme has seen the implementation of improved and industry best practice Finance systems, technology and controls.

A priority for Finance has been to build the new capabilities we need to enhance our service to the business.

“We are also investing in best-in-class programmes to ensure our people can be their very best. A priority for Finance has been to build the new capabilities we need to enhance our service to the business,” commented Group CFO Gijsbert de Zoeten.

In support of this, in June 2021 Inchcape launched its Finance Academy with the initial focus of the Academy on building our Business Partnering capabilities.

“To improve our delivery of our Accelerate strategy requires Finance to spend more time partnering with the business and applying their commercial finance expertise and insight to the opportunities presented to our business. The Finance Academy is central to the development of these enhanced Business Partnering capabilities,” Gijsbert said.

The Finance Academy contains 15 specifically designed modules which are delivered through a mix of group sessions, team working and coaching pods.

“All Business Partners in our Americas and Africa region have now completed the Business Partnering training and the team have found the training really helpful to their role,” Esteban Garcia, Americas & Africa CFO said.

“It is important that our Business Partners continue to develop the industry leading skills they need to help Inchcape drive faster. The Finance Academy and the Business Partnering training are central to this,” Esteban said.

So far, 150 people have completed these Academy modules, with further plans now agreed for a phase two through 2022 which will reach wider into the Finance organisation.
