GUAM: Inchcape makes first donation of vehicles as part of innovative community initiative
December 2014: Atkins Kroll (AK), Inchcape’s market-leading business in Guam, has made its first donation of vehicles as part of its innovative Cars for Community initiative.
Earlier this year, AK’s ground-breaking Cars in the Community project was launched in partnership with the Toyota Motor Corporation and AK is now on course to fulfil its commitment to make 25 Toyota cars available to local volunteer and community sponsored causes. The first 15 vehicles will be given to the CAPE/Neighbourhood Watch, and an additional three vehicles will go to the Guam Chapter of the American Red Cross, all free of charge.
The vehicles will be used by the charities for a variety of vital purposes, including law enforcement and disaster relief activities, bringing many benefits to the region and its people.
In conjunction with the initiative, AK also broadened its community support through the launch of its Community Matters programme, which provides a monthly donation of $1,914 to nominated charities. Customers select which charity receives the monthly donation by casting their vote when visiting an AK site. Recent recipients of the initiative include the Guam Museum Foundation, UOG Endowment Foundation and Guam’s Big Brothers and Sisters programme.
In Guam, Inchcape is the exclusive distributor and retailer for Toyota, Lexus, Chevrolet and Scion, owning all three retail centres. In March 2014, AK celebrated 33 years as the market leading automotive group in Guam, when it reached its 100 year anniversary as the oldest registered corporation on the island.
