Who we support

At Inchcape, we support a number of different charities around the world, with an emphasis on local charities that help local people.

We encourage our people to support causes that are close to their hearts and at our London head office, we select our Charity of the Year by asking colleagues to nominate and then vote for their favorite. The selected charity is the focus of our fundraising activities over the year.

Head Office - Charity of the year 2012

Kids company

We are pleased that Kids Company has been selected by head office colleagues as our Charity of the Year 2012. Kids Company was founded by Camila Batmanghelidjh in 1996. The charity provides practical, emotional and educational support to vulnerable inner-city children. Their services reach 14,000 children across London, including the most deprived and at risk whose parents are unable to care for them due to their own practical and emotional challenges. Kids Company provides a safe, caring, family environment where support is tailored to the needs of each individual. Their services and support empower children who have experienced enormous challenges to lead positive and fulfilling lives. We look forward to fundraising for this fantastic cause over the year.

Head Office - Charity of the year 2011

Shooting Star CHASE hospices

In 2011 Inchcape plc staff nominated Shooting Star Chase as their Charity of the Year 2011. Shooting Star Chase care for and provide nursing, practical and emotional support to families with children who are not expected to reach their 19th birthday. The regional charity covers a population of around 5 million in South West London and looks after around 600 families with terminally ill children. In total they need around £8m a year to offer the level of service that is needed, with the majority of this coming from communities, corporations and fundraising events. In 2011 Inchcape’s head office colleagues donated generously and took part in several fundraising activities to raise over £19,000 for Shooting Star Chase Hospices.

Some of the fantastic charities we have supported at head office over the years are listed below.

Head Office Charity of the Year 2010

Havens Hospices

A small charity in Essex, Havens Hospice provides respite breaks, symptom control and end–of–life care for adults and children living with serious illnesses or conditions. It aims to make their journey – and that of the family – as comfortable as possible, creating special memories along the way. This charity was nominated by Inchcape plc colleagues in early 2010 and by December 2010 the team had worked hard to raise over £15,000 to support this fantastic organisation.

The love and care provided by the Care Team in the homely surroundings at Fair Havens Hospice and Little Havens Children’s Hospice is free of charge to families and this fantastic work can not continue without kind donations. They would be very grateful for any financial help available.

Head Office Charity of the year 2008 & 2009

Moorfields Eye Hospital

Moorfields Eye Hospital was nominated by our staff as our Charity of the year in both 2008 and 2009. We raised over £12,000 for the charity over these two years, largely through collections and sponsored events.

The NHS trust needs charitable support to help to finance leading–edge research into the major causes of blindness and in the development of new treatments. Donations also make it possible for the team to buy state–of–the–art equipment and improve facilities, for the comfort and benefit of patients, in ways that could not be achieved within the limits of normal NHS funding. Moorfields is one of the world’s leading eye centres and helps people with a wide range of complex and debilitating eye conditions.

Head Office Charity of the year 2007

St Christopher’s Hospice

St Christopher’s Hospice was our nominated charity in 2007. The hospice exists to promote and provide skilled and compassionate palliative care of the highest quality. Their vision is of a world in which all dying people and those close to them have access to appropriate care and support, when they need it, wherever they need it and whoever they are. They serve a diverse population of 1.5 million people in the London boroughs of Bromley, Croydon, Lambeth, Lewisham and Southwark, reaching some of England’s most deprived areas.
