Inchcape operates in 26 countries around the world. Our core markets are Australia, Belgium, China, Greece, Hong Kong, Russia, Singapore and the UK. These are markets in which we have developed or are in the process of developing scale retail or distribution businesses selling at least 25,000-30,000 vehicles per annum. We have stated, as part of our expansion strategy, that we will expand our core markets to around ten over the next five years. In 2007 we identified Russia and China as the first two new core retail markets where we plan to build scale businesses.

In our accounts our regions are split to show UK, Australia, Europe, Hong Kong, Singapore, Emerging Markets and Rest of World. We define Emerging Markets as markets in which we operate that have started to grow but have yet to reach a mature stage of development and accordingly are in the growth phase of the development cycle.
