Our commitment to development and training
At Inchcape, we are committed to working with our colleagues at every level to help them learn new skills and competencies that are relevant to their job and career aspirations.
As part of our commitment to continuous development, a range of learning and development opportunities are available to Inchcape colleagues, supporting both personal and professional development.
Learning and Development Opportunities
Inchcape offers a climate which supports learning and encourages coaching, mentoring and learning opportunities through the following mechanisms:
- Regular Performance Reviews and Personal Development Plans
- Approved Manufacturer Training Programmes
- Tailored Inchcape Training Programmes for both personal and professional development
- Apprenticeship Programmes leading to National Vocational Qualifications
- Management Development Programmes
- Encouragement to join Professional Bodies to update skills and knowledge
- Professional pathways for development in specific roles such as IT, Finance and HR
Inchcape Academy
Inchcape also has an Academy of best practice training where specially selected colleagues can attend Loughborough University and gain further development and work toward certificate, degree and diploma based courses which focus on strengthening operational excellence.
Inchcape Induction
On joining Inchcape our colleagues will go through a thorough Induction programme. The first stage of this is an introduction to their own business unit in terms of people, policies, culture, environment and their job role. This should really help make those first few days enjoyable rather than daunting and help them to settle into the business.
As a follow up to this, a new member of staff will attend our Group Induction which gives full insight to the world of Inchcape and illustrates the bigger picture, therefore helping people to really feel part of the Inchcape Group.
Our commitment to you
The commitment to training and development offered by Inchcape, is based on a principle of 70/30. The 70:30 partnership clearly demonstrates that it is the employee who will take ownership of his or her self-development. We believe that a company whose people are encouraged and agree to develop themselves will be a stronger and healthier one. We therefore support lifetime learning and recognise that employees must be responsible for their own professional and career development, and ultimately their own employability.
